Driving Change: Sustainability Through Action
From EV adoption to new release liner recycling, we're helping shape the graphics industry's future.
At 4th Dimension Wraps & Graphics, sustainability isn't a separate department or a marketing campaign. It starts on our shop floor.
As our business grew, so did the volume of release liner generated through everyday wrap and graphics installations. Release liner is the silicone-coated paper backing removed from vinyl during installation, and like most shops across North America, we had few options beyond sending it directly to landfill.
After years of watching dumpsters fill with material generated through our own operations, we decided to ask a simple question:
What if there was a better way?
That question became WrapSHIFT, a Colorado-led initiative focused on building one of North America's first collection and recovery networks for release liner generated by wrap shops, sign companies, printers, and graphics installers.
What began as an effort to solve a challenge within our own business has grown into a collaborative initiative involving municipalities, manufacturers, sustainability organizations, recycling partners, and fellow industry professionals working together to create a more circular future for the graphics industry.
We are currently gathering industry participation and preparing for a pilot program targeted for Fall 2026 pending grant funding. Wrap shops, sign companies, and graphics providers interested in learning more are encouraged to connect with us directly and complete our Industry Interest Survey with our team.
The graphics industry has spent decades focused on the face of the material, the vinyl, graphics, and finished product.
Behind every installation is a less visible waste stream: release liner.
For years, wrap shops, sign companies, and print providers have had few options beyond sending this material to landfill. As our business grew, so did the volume of material leaving our shop.
Rather than accepting that reality, we began asking questions, building partnerships, and exploring what a better solution could look like.
Today, that effort has evolved into WrapSHIFT, a Colorado-led initiative working to transform an overlooked waste stream into a circular manufacturing opportunity.
why we are taking action
building the network
WrapSHIFT is powered by collaboration.
We're bringing together businesses that generate release liner, manufacturers that produce it, municipalities that support innovation, and partners that can help turn waste into a resource.
By connecting the right people around a shared challenge, we're creating the foundation for a recovery network designed to serve Colorado today and the graphics industry tomorrow.
Because the best solutions aren't built by one company. They're built by an industry willing to work together.
THE IMPACT
Focused on creating measurable results, not just good intentions.
By establishing a collection and recovery network for release liner, we're working to divert valuable material from landfill and return it to productive use through circular manufacturing.
Through partnerships with organizations like Nu-Wool, recovered release liner has the potential to become part of the next generation of cellulose insulation products, giving a traditionally discarded material a second life.
Our goal extends beyond a single business or community. We're building a model that can help reduce waste, support domestic manufacturing, and demonstrate how industry collaboration can create practical solutions with lasting impact.
Because when waste becomes a resource, everyone benefits.

WrapSHIFT is currently building a network of wrap shops, sign companies, print providers, manufacturers, municipalities, and industry partners committed to creating a better solution for release liner recovery.
We are actively gathering industry participation and material volume data as part of a State of Colorado grant application being submitted at the end of June. The information collected through our Industry Interest Survey will help demonstrate industry demand, estimate available material volumes, and support the development of Colorado's first release liner collection network.
While participation in the pilot program is currently being established, new businesses are welcome to express interest and join the initiative at any time. Whether you're interested in participating in the pilot, hosting a collection container, supporting the program, or simply staying informed as the project evolves, we'd love to connect.

Logistics & Collection Network
Building a successful recovery program requires more than collecting material. It requires a practical, scalable logistics system that works for businesses of all sizes.
WrapSHIFT is currently developing a collection network designed to make participation simple for Colorado wrap shops, sign companies, and print providers. The program is evaluating collection containers, pickup schedules, transportation routes, material consolidation, baling operations, and freight solutions to ensure material can move efficiently from participating businesses to end-market manufacturing partners.
Current planning efforts include:
• Collection container deployment
• Scheduled pickup services
• Regional collection hubs
• Material consolidation and baling
• Freight and transportation partnerships
• End-market delivery coordination
By working closely with industry partners and logistics professionals, WrapSHIFT aims to create a system that minimizes disruption to participating businesses while maximizing material recovery and diversion.
As the program grows, the collection network will continue to evolve to support additional businesses, municipalities, and manufacturers throughout Colorado.Item description

We use high-quality, low-impact materials like Avery Dennison vinyl, which is committed to sustainable manufacturing processes. These materials are durable and long-lasting, reducing waste from frequent replacements.
We minimize waste by carefully measuring materials, repurposing scraps for smaller projects, and recycling non-reusable materials through specialized programs.
Our shop is equipped with energy-efficient tools and lighting, minimizing our environmental footprint during the production and installation process.
As part of the Watts @ Work Program, we’re proud to integrate electric vehicles into our operations and support workplace charging stations for employees and visitors. This includes collaboration with local businesses to install EV charging stations in shared spaces.
